Watching Let's Encrypt I had to admire the mechanisms but see them as some sort of band-aid over earlier mistakes. Or are our goals themselves misguided?
With language we communicate complex thought through the air. We've adapted to the privacy that the medium allows though we are sometimes surprised that spies can hear us from across the street. Still there is beautiful poetry and song.

We have found wildcard dns to be useful in our effort to spawn sites as casually as we refocus our attention. But the marketplace of security has made wildcard certificates a premium item, not an everyday thing. Does one have to be a venture funded entrepreneur launching the next mega-service to have thoughts that wander?
I doubt we will find any original beauty in whatever mechanisms we must construct to overcome the compounded accidental complexity of the modern internet. Or even worse, we might fail. Thus we forgo a new kind of air.
